Canadian Forces Snowbirds Come to Revelstoke

Revelstoke B.C. — In celebration of Canada 150, the City of Revelstoke and the CSRD are excited to announce they will be hosting The Canadian Forces (CF) Snowbirds this July 25-26th, 2017. Planned events include a meet and greet with the Snowbirds at the Revelstoke Airport July 25th from 3:30-5:00pm, A Non-Aerobatic Air Display July 26th from 2:30-5:00pm, and a Dinner with the Snowbirds at Revelstoke Mountain Resort, July 25th from 6:30-9:00pm.

In order to ensure everyone has the opportunity to enjoy the Non Aerobatic Air Display, The City of Revelstoke will be hosting a public viewing event at Centennial Park on July 26th from 2:30-5:00pm where in addition to the Air Display there will be music, children’s activities, food options and live commentary by the CF Snowbirds. Both the Meet and Greet at the Airport and the public viewing event at Centennial Park are free events.

Captain Paul Faulkner of the CF Snowbirds in commenting on their upcoming visit stated: “After seeing the scenic mountains and meeting the great airshow organizing team last week in Revelstoke, the Snowbird team can’t wait to perform on the 26th of July. We loved the town, and the roller coaster, we can’t wait to be back.”

Director of Community Economic Development, Nicole Fricot stated “We are extremely excited to host the CF Snowbirds this summer. It has the potential to have a huge positive impact on our community and local businesses. I think it is particularly great that youth will have the opportunity to meet and interact with a couple of the CF Snowbirds at the Meet and Greet at the airport. When the Snowbirds came for their site visit a few weeks ago, it became clear that inspiring young people to consider different opportunities is a big part of their mandate”.

The Canadian Force (CF) Snowbirds, 431 Air Demonstration Squadron are a Canadian icon comprised of Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members and National Defence Public Service employees. Pilots, technicians, mobile support operators, and engineering and logistics officers representing all three elements (Army, Navy and Air Force), work as a team to bring thrilling performances to the Canadian public. Serving as ambassadors of the CAF, the CF Snowbirds demonstrate the high level of skill, professionalism, teamwork, discipline and dedication inherent in the men and women of the CAF. The aircraft flown by the CF Snowbirds, the CT-114 Tutor was originally procured in the mid-1960s to train student pilots.
